Strategic focus for Feydhoo-Magudhoo Development
Focused on improving everyday services, supporting our community, and ensuring real follow-through.

Heritage, Greener Feydhoo & Identity
Our Goal: Transform Feydhoo into a cleaner, more beautiful ward through practical environmental action that every resident can see and feel.
What We Will Deliver:
- Honoring those who have shaped our community: Establish annual awards to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Feydhoo in fields such as culture, education, sports, and community service.
- Household Waste Sorting Pilot: Launch a structured pilot program in 2-3 zones to test household-level waste separation. Use lessons learned to expand island-wide by Year 3. Include public awareness campaigns and clear signage.
- Street Shade & Tree Planting Plan: Plant shade trees along priority walking routes—near schools, markets, and mosques. Work with nursery suppliers to ensure survival monitoring for two full years. Aim for 80% survival rate through community stewardship.
- Monthly Community Cleanups: Organize structured, ward-supported cleanups every month. Provide gloves, bags, and tools. Partner with local businesses and youth groups to build ownership of public spaces.
- Waste Handling Point Upgrades: Improve existing waste collection points with better enclosures, odor control measures, and clear signage. Ensure compliance with Environment Protection Act standards.
- Greening Guidelines for Development: Create simple guidelines for new small projects in the ward, ensuring shade, drainage, and litter control are built in from the start.

Local Jobs & Economic Opportunity
Our Goal: Create real economic opportunities for Feydhoo residents, especially youth and small business owners—by removing barriers and opening markets.
What We Will Deliver:
- Feydhoo Business Desk: A dedicated help point at the ward office for licensing guidance, business registration support, training calendars, and connections to market opportunities. No more confusion about where to start.
- "Made in Feydhoo" Monthly Bazaar: A regular market for local food, crafts, and services. Held monthly in a central location. Free or low-cost entry for local vendors. Promoted across Addu City to bring customers.
- Youth Apprenticeship Program: Partner with local businesses to create short-term apprenticeships for young people. Co-funded by small grants to reduce risk for employers while giving youth real skills.
- Feydhoo Community Fund: A ring-fenced, transparent fund to finance small community projects:
- Micro-grants for youth-led initiatives
- Seed funding for small business ideas
- Public-space improvements proposed by residents
- Public rules, published criteria, conflict of interest declarations, and quarterly public reporting on income received and expenses spent.

Stronger Community Support
Our Goal: Build a ward where no one is left behind, where elders are respected, youth are empowered, and everyone can move around safely and with dignity.

Volunteer Home-Visit Network: Recruit and train vetted volunteers to conduct monthly home visits to isolated elders, offering companionship, checking on well-being, and connecting families to services. Strong privacy safeguards built in.

Why this matters for Feydhoo-Magudhoo:
Tourism is not just about visitors. It is about opportunity. Jobs for our youth. Income for families. A future for our children that does not require leaving home. Feydhoo has been promised tourism development for years.
While licensing resorts and hotels remains a national responsibility, the ward council plays a critical role in coordination, facilitation, and ensuring that Feydhoo's interests are represented in all tourism-related decisions.
Deliverables:
- Try and establish an agreed space to create a private beach for tourists.
- Create means to establish water sports activities effectively
- Work to achieve in policy level and establish savaahili as a service island that enhances the use of tourism zone of feydhoo.

Feydhoo Alif Dhaalu "Holhuashi" & Community Space
For Elders, Fisherman, Families, Youth and for Visitors
Our Goal: Feydhoo's traditional Holhuashi, a space for gathering, resting, and community life, with modern amenities while preserving its cultural significance.
Why this matters for Feydhoo:
The Holhuashi has always been more than just a structure. It is where stories are shared, where elders rest, where fishers gather after a long day, and where neighbors become family. For generations, this space has been the heart of our community.
But time has taken its toll. What was once a vibrant gathering place now needs care and renewal. This project is about bringing that heart back, creating a space that honors our traditions while serving the needs of today's community.
This is not just about building. It is about preserving who we are while building what we need.
What we will deliver:
- Shaded Seating: Traditional design combined with modern comfort—creating a welcoming space for all
- Effective Lighting: Proper illumination for evening gatherings, safety, and extended usability
- Waste Bins: Clean, well-placed bins to maintain cleanliness and respect for the space
- Small Waiting Area: A comfortable spot for those waiting—whether for transport, fishing trips, or simply resting
- Fishers Rest Corner: A dedicated space for our fishing community to rest, store gear, and connect
